Andrew J. Shaw is an Of Counsel in the Firm’s New York City and Parsippany, New Jersey offices. Mr. Shaw’s practice focuses on insurance coverage counseling and litigation and insurance defense litigation from case inception through trial and appeals. In particular, Mr. Shaw’s insurance defense litigation practice encompasses the areas of general liability, construction liability (including New York Labor Law), premises liability, dram shop liability, negligent security liability, and transportation liability. His clients are comprised of individuals and private and public companies, including property owners, landlords, construction contractors, hospitality, sports, recreation and entertainment entities and insurance companies.
Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Shaw has practiced in law firms in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania in diverse areas, including commercial litigation, bankruptcy, criminal law and real estate transactions. Additionally, Mr. Shaw was an Assistant Deputy Public Defender with the New Jersey Office of the Public Defender. While in law school, he was a judicial extern for Associate Justice Evelyn Lundberg Stratton of the Supreme Court of Ohio.
Mr. Shaw received his B.A., with distinction, with a double major in Mathematics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he was an Associate Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. He is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the District of Columbia and various federal district and appellate courts.
