Rhoda S. Barish is a Partner in Kiernan Trebach’s Rockville, Maryland office. Prior to joining Kiernan Trebach, she was a Principal in the law firm of Gavett, Datt & Barish, P.C. where she practiced for almost thirty years. She began her legal career as a trial attorney with the United States Department of Energy, Economic Regulatory Administration.

Ms. Barish practices primarily in the field of insurance coverage and represents clients in both insurance coverage litigation and settlement negotiations. She has evaluated a multitude of complex insurance matters and has drafted countless insurance coverage opinions pertaining to many different types of coverages including Commercial General Liability Policies, Special Multi-Peril Policies, Business and Personal Automobile Policies, Business Owners Property Policies, Homeowner's and Condominium Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, Workers Compensation and Employers' Liability Policies, and CCIP (Contractor Controlled Insurance Program) and OCIP (Owner Controlled Insurance Program) Coverages. She is particularly experienced in evaluating complex choice-of-law issues and determining the appropriate forum in which to litigate particular disputes.

Ms. Barish also practices in the areas of appellate and civil litigation, environmental law, personal injury, and construction law.

Ms. Barish is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland. She received her BA degree from Vassar College and JD degree from American University, Washington College of Law.
