Dawn Singleton is a Partner in the Firm’s Washington, DC office. She has 15 years of experience litigating matters in the areas of personal injury, landlord and tenant, employment, FELA, construction and professional engineers.
Ms. Singleton has assisted in jury trials in both local and federal courts in Washington, D.C. and represented clients for bench trials in Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and Baltimore City, Maryland. She has also appeared before administrative tribunals, including the Office of Fair Hearings, the Office of Administrative Hearings and the Department of Employment Services in the District of Columbia. Ms. Singleton was involved in a significant matter of first impression in the District of Columbia that involved the statutory notice requirements for filing a lawsuit against an independent agency of the District of Columbia government. Ms. Singleton was successful in getting the case dismissed on the grounds that Plaintiff had not complied with statutory notice provisions requiring notice to the agency prior to filing the Complaint. The trial court’s decision was affirmed by the District of Columbia Court of Appeals establishing the first appellate decision of the agency’s enabling Act on statutory notice.
Ms. Singleton is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Maryland and South Carolina. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Columbia and the United States District Court for Maryland
She graduated from Winthrop University with a B.A.in 1995 and received her J.D. from the University Of South Carolina School of Law in 1999.
