Carrie is a partner in the Maryland and D.C. offices of Bonner Kiernan Trebach & Crociata. She has 30 years of experience litigating civil cases, primarily medical malpractice, throughout Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Carrie has defended hospitals, physicians, physicians’ assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare providers in a large variety of claims of medical negligence, including claims such as failure to diagnose; birth injuries (cerebral palsy, persistent pulmonary hypertension, other brain injuries, shoulder dystocia, fetal laceration, and fetal demise); stroke diagnosis and treatment; misinterpretation of studies; neurosurgical injuries; administration of improper medication; administration of excessive medications; psychological malpractice; epiglottitis; vaccine-related injuries; improper neonatal care; inappropriate use of anesthesia; improper monitoring; retained foreign bodies; hospital falls; improperly performed surgeries; wrong-side surgeries; decubitus ulcers; failure to communicate; and other injury and wrongful death actions.
Carrie has served as an invited speaker for the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), MD-DC Chapter of ASHRM, District of Columbia Voluntary Bar Association, and various hospitals and insurers. Carrie received her Bachelor of Science degree, cum laude, from Syracuse University in 1987, and her Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from The National Law Center at George Washington University, in 1991. Before entering private practice, Carrie served as law clerk to the Honorable James P. Salmon, Judge of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Carrie has been with Bonner Kiernan for the past 20 years. She holds the highest peer review rating issued by Martindale Hubbell - AV (“Very High to Preeminent” Legal Ability, “Very High” Ethical Standards).
Carrie is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland. She is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and Maryland, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. She has been admitted Pro Hac Vice in federal court in Pennsylvania and commonwealth court in Virginia.
