Ryan Nelson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in Analytical Chemistry before attending Howard University where he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) degree. He worked in a hospital for five years as a clinical pharmacist before continuing as a retail pharmacist. His background as a pharmacist for over ten years gives Mr. Nelson the unique ability to understand the dynamic landscape of healthcare. He is an expert in pharmacy procedures and general hospital and pharmacy standard of care.
Mr. Nelson is currently an Adjunct Instructor of Pharmacy Jurisprudence at Howard University. The course involves an in-depth examination of the laws and regulatory issues pertaining to the practice of pharmacy. Specifically, the course focuses on malpractice and pertinent sections of the federal Controlled Substances Act, Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and other federal and state law. He has experience preparing healthcare powers of attorney, advance directives, estate planning, and education law. He previously drafted appellate decisions for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and has successfully represented clients involved in personal injury lawsuits and complex litigation involving mass tort product liability claims.
