Experience

Derek is an attorney in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. Derek is an experienced litigator in both state and federal courts. He has successfully represented clients in breach of contract actions, business torts, personal injury, and real property disputes and has appeared for trials before judges and juries. Outside of the courtroom, Derek has experience with transactional matters, reviewing and drafting corporate documents and business agreements, while managing risk to help his clients protect their interests and avoid litigation.

Prior to joining Kiernan Trebach LLP, Derek served as a Judge Advocate with the U.S. Army as an attorney on active duty for four years. During that time, he represented Soldiers and their families in administrative investigations, adverse administrative actions, criminal investigations, and at courts-martial. Derek also advised military leaders as their legal counsel within the U.S. and while deployed.

Outside of work, Derek enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as golfing.
