Experience

Joseph P. Murphy is an attorney in the Providence office where he is a trial attorney with extensive experience representing clients in a broad range of civil litigation matters. He focuses his practice on general liability, insurance coverage, employment disputes, real estate litigation, title insurance, and commercial litigation.

Prior to joining the firm, Joseph served as a Trial Attorney with Orabona Law Offices, where he handled plaintiff-side litigation from case inception through trial. Before that, he practiced as a Litigation Associate with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP and Litigation Counsel with Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, representing businesses, insurers, and individuals in complex litigation matters. His experience includes dispositive motions, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, trials, expert discovery, and large-scale e-discovery. Earlier in his career, Joseph founded and managed his own boutique law firm, representing individuals and businesses in litigation, evictions, collections, and real estate transactions. He also served as Corporate Managing Attorney for a national title insurance agency, advising executives and business leaders on a wide range of legal issues, including title insurance, employment matters, regulatory compliance, contracts, trademarks, leases, and corporate litigation.

Joseph earned his Juris Doctor from Roger Williams University School of Law, where he served as a Research Assistant to Professor Robert Kent. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language & Literature from the University of Rhode Island and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
