Matt is a Partner based in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. He has nearly 20 years of experience handling various types of civil matters before both state and federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Matt regularly defends claims of serious personal injury, medical malpractice, professional liability, as well as products liability claims and contracts.

Matt also represents businesses and individuals involving various civil claims stemming from breach of contract, collections, employment disputes, among other things. Matt’s hard work and dedication have earned him a reputation of achieving the best results possible for his clients in all forms of litigation.

Matt graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English from The Catholic University of America. While an undergrad, he was awarded the H.R. Franco Memorial Scholarship and was a staff writer for The Tower, Catholic University's student newspaper. He also received his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. While in law school, Matt was a member of the Moot Court Board and also practiced as a Student Attorney in the Families in the Law Clinic, where he represented indigent members of the District of Columbia, who were seeking protective orders from abuse.

Matt is originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Montgomery County, Maryland with his wife and two children.

Notable Matters

  • Obtaining summary judgment, which was affirmed by the D.C. Court of Appeals, on behalf of a large mass transit agency stemming from a claim brought by an allegedly injured passenger.
  • Obtaining summary judgment, which was affirmed by the D.C. Court of Appeals, on behalf of a local hospital stemming from claims of defamation and false light, which also sought punitive damages.
  • Defending and successfully resolving claims brought against a food distributer involving multi-state litigation stemming from a nationwide outbreak of E. coli O157:H7.
  • Defending a trucking company from multiple claims stemming from an incident involving a bus full of passengers involving multi-state litigation.
  • Defending and successfully resolving more than a hundred seventy five (175) claims brought against a major metropolitan mass transit agency stemming from a mass tort event.
  • Defending and successfully resolving a multi-million dollar claim brought in the District of Columbia against a mass transit agency alleging a traumatic brain injury (TBI).
  • Defending and successfully resolving a claim involving serious bodily injuries stemming from an alleged gas leak and explosion on behalf of a small Maryland business.
  • Representing a small business in a contract dispute involving billing and invoicing over many years.
  • Representing a large international real estate services company in enforcing its non-solicit and non-compete covenants.
  • Representing a large international building supply company in a dispute with a foreign manufacturer of essential equipment.
